چکیده
Two-dimensional (2D) materials are a family of layered exhibiting rich exotic phenomena, such as valley-contrasting physics. Down to single-particle level, unraveling fundamental physics and potential applications including quantum information processing in these attracts significant research interests. To unlock great potentials, gate-controlled dot architectures have been applied 2D their heterostructures. Such systems provide the possibility electrical confinement, control, manipulation single carriers materials. In this review, efforts dots presented. Following basic introductions valley degree freedom systems, up-to-date progress etched gate-defined materials, especially graphene transition metal dichalcogenides, is provided. The challenges opportunities for future developments field, from views device design, fabrication scheme, control technology, discussed. rapid field not only sheds light on understanding spin-valley physics, but also provides an ideal platform investigating diverse condensed matter phenomena realizing computation limit.

Cryo-mediated exfoliation and fracturing of layered materials into 2D quantum dots
Atomically thin quantum dots from layered materials promise new science and applications, but their scalable synthesis and separation have been challenging. We demonstrate a universal approach for the preparation of quantum dots from a series of materials, such as graphite, MoS2, WS2, h-BN, TiS2, NbS2, Bi2Se3, MoTe2, Sb2Te3, etc., using a cryo-mediated liquid-phase exfoliation and fracturing pr...
متن کاملDoping Mesoporous Materials with Multicolor Quantum Dots
Rapid and precise doping of mesoporous silica beads has been achieved with luminescent quantum dots, leading to 1-2 orders of magnitude improvements over the results previously achieved with polystyrene latex beads. A surprising finding is that multivalent hydrophobic interactions provide a strong driving force for efficient partitioning and immobilization of surfactant-coated quantum dots in t...
متن کاملDeveloping a Fluorescent Hybrid Nanobiosensor Based on Quantum Dots and Azoreductase Enzyme forMethyl Red Monitoring
Background: Azo dyes are the most widely used synthetic colorants in the textile, food, pharmaceutical, cosmetic, and other industries, accounting for nearly 70% of all dyestuffs consumed. Recently, much research attention has been paid to efficient monitoring of these hazardous chemicals and their related metabolites because of their potentially harmful effect on environmental issues. In contr...
متن کاملSynthesis of CdTe quantum dots coated with biocompatible materials and investigation of their identification Properties
Fingerprint identification or dactyloscopy is a method for human identification. The impressions left by a human finger on surfaces are not visible to naked eyes (latent fingerprint); therefore, they require revelation to become visible and identified. Within the last century, several fingerprint revelation techniques such as optical, physical, and chemical were studied. These traditional metho...
متن کاملGraphene based quantum dots.
Laterally localized electronic states are identified on a single layer of graphene on ruthenium by low temperature scanning tunneling spectroscopy (STS). The individual states are separated by 3 nm and comprise regions of about 90 carbon atoms. This constitutes a highly regular quantum dot-array with molecular precision. It is evidenced by quantum well resonances (QWRs) with energies that relat...
